A person reads every report. Corrections are made by hand, to the data — titles, dates, names, which pages belong together — never to the scans, and they can take a while to appear.

7-1b REPORT of the FBI LABORATORY

FEDERAL BUREAU OF INVESTIGATION WASHINGTON, D. C. 20535

To: SAC, Seattle (164-81) Date: January 5, 1972 FBI File No. 164-2111 Re: NORJAK Lab. No. D-711223054 LL

Specimens received 12/23/71

Q35 Envelope postmarked "U S STAL SERVICE 870 1971 AM 14 DEC," bearing hand printed address "SeATTle NeWS PAReR MAIN News PAReR OFFICe SeATTle, WASHINGTON"

Q36 Accompanying typewritten letter beginning "I must ask . . ."

Result of examination:

It was concluded that the hand printing on Q35 and Q29 was prepared by one person. It was not definitely determined whether the hand printing on Q31 was prepared by the person preparing Q35 and Q29 because of variations in the limited comparable material; however, characteristics were noted which indicate that Q31 was probably prepared by the person who prepared Q35 and Q29.

The typewriting on Q36 is the same style as the typewriting on Q30, but it was not determined whether these specimens were prepared on the same typewriter because of the lack of significant defects.

No watermarks, indented writing or other features were found on Q35 and Q36 which would be of value in determining the source of these specimens.

Q35 and Q36 were photographed and will be returned separately.
