[REDACTED] advised that he had first seen the artist's sketch of the hijacker in the 'Salt Lake City Tribune.' His first reaction to the sketch had been that it was a good likeness to HAROLD COOPER of Salt Lake City, Utah.
[REDACTED] advised that in 1954 he had been working at the Newhouse Hotel, 4th South and Main, Salt Lake City, Utah. COOPER had been working as a bellhop at the same hotel. COOPER had quit working at the hotel sometime later in 1954 and had joined the U. S. Navy. While in the Navy he was an aerial photographer. [REDACTED] recalled that COOPER had received parachute jump training while in the Navy. [REDACTED] could recall no further details regarding COOPER's Navy life.
---
After being released from the Navy in 1957, COOPER had gone to work for Hercules Powder Plant, south of Salt Lake City, Utah, as a photographer. At this time, [REDACTED] had moved to [REDACTED] Wyoming, and had lost contact with COOPER. He knew nothing regarding COOPER's activities from 1957 until approximately two years ago, 1969. At this time he had seen COOPER in a bar in Salt Lake City, name not recalled. COOPER had informed [REDACTED] that he had changed his name to TOM COOPER and was engaged in aerial photography and "flew over Wyoming once in a while." COOPER had given the impression that he had a pilot's license. [REDACTED] stated that he could recall no further details regarding COOPER and since this time he has had no contact with COOPER.
---
[REDACTED] furnished the following description of COOPER:
Name HAROLD COOPER, later changed to TOM COOPER Race White Sex Male Age 43 years Height 5 feet 9 inches Weight 165 pounds
