OPTIONAL FORM NO. 10 MAY 1962 EDITION GSA FPMR (41 CFR) 101-11.6 UNITED STATES GOVERNMENT Memorandum

TO : SAC, SEATTLE (164-81) DATE: 4-26-72 FROM : SA VICTOR R. MATOUS SUBJECT: NORJAK

---

On 4-26-72, I called JIM ASHTON, Corporate Security, The Boeing Company, Seattle, in order to determine the feasi- bility of pulling the files of those employees terminated by The Boeing Company between 1/1-4/30/70. ASHTON advised that files of employees may or may not contain a photograph of the employee and that the badge photographs are destroyed upon termination. He said that he did not know exactly what the problems would be in obtaining these files but would confer with [REDACTED] and others and call me back.

---

ASHTON called back a short time later and advised that the number of Boeing employees terminated between 1/1-4/30-72, was 20,101. He said that it would take six employees a bare minimum of three weeks to merely pull the files. He said the number of individuals involved could be cut approximately in half by programming the computer select- ing such individuals to select only salaried rather than hourly employees. (However, it is noted that profile of the individual involved indicates that he lost his job possibly between 1/70 and 7/70 and it is anticipated that the total number of employees involved during this period of time would be closer to 35,000 or 40,000.)

---

ASHTON said the computer, while it can be programmed for such data as Social Security Account Number, Name, etc., can not be programmed for personal history data such as married or single; children in family, etc.

---

ASHTON added that a project of this magnitute would involve certain budgetry conditions that would have to be handled at a fairly high level of Boeing administrat[ion].
