Stan Pitkin US Attorney

Sir: On Monday, May 1, we printed an interview from one D.B. Cooper, who is listed, I believe, in your files as the only successful American Skyjacker. On Tuesday, May 2, you apprehended two men who were attempting to sell, or had sold, a story to Karl Fleming. I am quite willing to tell you that at no time was I ever approached by either individual, nor have I ever traveled to Bremebton or been in the Swept Wing Inn. Nor would I ever go there. For the sake of determing whether our interview is bona fide, I would ask you to open your D.B. Cooper file so that we may compare interview facts with the information you have gathered. Similarly, it would assist such a determination, if you could present the xeroxed bill for comparison.

Sincerely,

[signature redacted]

PS: Sorry about the Chief.
