A person reads every report. Corrections are made by hand, to the data — titles, dates, names, which pages belong together — never to the scans, and they can take a while to appear.

RE: Suspect ALVIN CURTIS HARTLEY
On 2/5/73, Chief of Police FERTIG, Huntington Park Police Department (HPPD), Huntington Park, California, who has served with that department for 32 years, advised he personally recalls AL HUNTLEY, who was hired as a patrolman on 4/3/50 and resigned without giving notice on 9/8/51.
Chief FERTIG added that HARTLEY served in the Patrol Division while he, FERTIG, was a lieutenant in the Patrol Division. He described HARTLEY as completely unsuitable for police work. HARTLEY constantly talked about "making it big" and once, a few years after HARTLEY left the HPPD, FERTIG met him in Las Vegas. At that time he recalls HARTLEY was "bum rapping" the Las Vegas Police Department with whom he had taken a job as an officer after leaving Huntington Park. He recalls HARTLEY made some remarks about going to Cuba and having some connection with [REDACTED] b6 [REDACTED] in gambling. He could recall no specifics and did not b7c know if HARTLEY actually had gone to Cuba or was involved [guess: Sub] V3 7 with [REDACTED]
