"He didn't talk in any detail about people or programs," [REDACTED] said. "He just kept quoting people like MALCOLM X and some Indian chief that he said died in a fight against white men.
"He quoted MALCOLM X as saying, 'Revolution is the only way,' and the Indian chief as saying, 'Today is a good day to die.'
"When he blamed the government for oppression of blacks and Chicanos, I told him I thought the civil rights movement had resulted in some advances. He agreed but he said the people in the civil rights movement had betrayed him and that he would kill them if he saw them again.

---
In one of these letters dated [REDACTED] asked "from fear and disagreement" to be let go from the group. She says her love and faith almost took her with CHARLES but her intellect and common sense prevented her from making the final step into a life she could not live or ask her son to live. She states that she agrees with CHARLES's theory but disagrees with his tactics.
---
In a letter dated [REDACTED] she states that "they" will have a "revolutionary girl" whom they will call "REBECCA EMMA MARIE TULLER." However, in a letter dated August 19, 1972, [REDACTED] tells CHARLES that she loves him and that she does not want to give up her baby, inferring that she was either about to lose it or have it aborted.
---
In another letter undated she says she has loved CHARLES for four years and she knows he wants to run from her but cannot and that they will be married by February 26, 1973, even though she has lost his baby. She also pointed out to CHARLES that she and he have gone their separate ways many times before.
---
In a letter dated [REDACTED] tells CHARLES to forget his plans and to marry her and to help the boys forget their plans. She relates to CHARLES that he has led the group and their destiny rests in his judgment. She tells him to think of living instead of dying and that he cannot save the world alone. She tells him that if he carries out his plans she will no longer love him and they will all get killed. In another undated letter letter she says she takes back what she said in her last letter and she will love CHARLES even if he goes through with his plans.
