RE: JOE INGALL (phonetic) Sub 443
For the information of Houston, INGALL was supplied as possible suspect by JAMES N. RUNSAVELL on 6/13/72. He stated INGALL fit description of unknown subject and had pre- viously been a test pilot on the Mc Donnell - Douglas X-15 project, but was now a pilot for United Airlines.
Investigation by Seattle revealed INGALL under all possible spelling combinations, was never employed with United Airlines in any capacity. Further INGALL was not employed at Boeing Aircraft Corporation; and credit criminal and Department of Motor Vehicle checks at Seattle were negative.
It was further determined that INGALL was never employed by Mc Donnell - Douglas Corporation, but JOSEPH DOBRONSKI, Chief Test Pilot, Mc Donnell - Douglas, stated he did know of INGALL, possibly spelled INGALE, who had taken part in a research project at Edwards Air Force Base flying a research aircraft. The project was a joint effort by the United States Navy, United States Air Force, and National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA). DOBRONSKI believed INGALL was attached to the United States Navy, either as a civilian or on active duty on the project, and was probably a member of the Experimental Test Pilots Society (ETPS). He advised [REDACTED] [REDACTED], Lancaster, California, would be able to locate him. In addition, DOBRONSKI stated personnel at National Aeronautics and Space Administration facility, Edwards

Air Force Base might be able to locate INGALL. On 10/16/72, Lancaster, stated their records failed to reveal a member of the ETPS by the name of JOE INGALL. She said they have about 1400 members in the United States, and the only two individuals with names similar to INGALL would be Lieutenant Corporal JOE H. ENGLE and JOSEPH O. ENGLE.
She advised JOE H. ENGLE was formerly assigned as a test pilot on the X-15 project at Edwards Air Force Base, California, and is presently assigned at the Manned Space Craft Center, Houston, Texas, in the Astronaut Program.
The only available descriptive information regarding JOE H. ENGLE was his date of birth shown as 8/26/32. advised she, however, was personally acquainted with ENGLE and described him as follows:
Race White Sex Male Height 6' 0" Weight 165 - 170 pounds Hair Light Brown Eyes Blue Miscellaneous Thin beard
She stated that JOSEPH O. ENGLE resigned from the ETPS in 1966, and his date of birth was listed as 8/16/25. He was formerly employed as a test pilot with Layne Tempco Vaught, Dallas, Texas. His last known address was 1813 Betsy Lane, Irving, Texas.
Conduct appropriate investigation in effort to establish whereabouts of JOE H. ENGLE on 11/24/71. If this is not favorable, than HOUSTON should obtain available descriptive data and photograph, and furnish to Seattle for possible display to witnesses.
