Dear Friend,

Five years is a long time but I hope you will remember I told you certain facts (regarding my [REDACTED] and myself) that I never told anyone else. one of our first trips together registered for us in a Motel. When he came back to me he said, "your mrs. D.B. Cooper; Im [REDACTED]" He also said, "I always register as D.B. Cooper." He talked about the name several minutes untill I was sure I would always remember it. I asked him why cooper, and also the fact that there was a Jackie Cooper (movie star). I told him too, that using one name over and over could be a [guess: clue] - Two years later he was still using the name when he didn't want his name to show. D.B. Cooper was the name the man used on Thanksgiving eve. last year.

On one of the false starts he told me (sixty days before our arrest) that he knew how we could get one hundred thousand each. Then he said all I had to do was pick the money up on the ground. He said "he had made parachute jumps in the marines at 29 Palms Calif." He would grab a 727 in the air have them deliver

the money to me and after I had the money + safe I'd tell him on our walkie talkie's, and he would jump and use the walkie Talkie to tell me where to pick him up. I vetoed the idea, and told him they would be following me close enough to make our capture certain. The idea was so far out I asked him whatever gave him the idea. He told me [REDACTED] had the idea first and wanted to go with him, but if he took [REDACTED] and anything went wrong it would kill [REDACTED] and everyone in [REDACTED] would hate him.

My crazy reasoning told me if we didn't get some big money soon that [REDACTED] and [REDACTED] would, and It never get any big money as he would be through. More about Clair later. your Friend, Howard
