Re San Francisco letter to Los Angeles dated 1/15/73.

RE: Suspect DAVE BURT

On 1/26/73, DAVID EVANS BURT, 5300 Santa Monica Boulevard, Los Angeles, California, was interviewed at the above address, the location of a business, David Burt Associates. BURT advised he is the owner of this business and works in conjunction with movie studios in aerial photography. He has been at this location for the past three years and has been in Hollywood, California for the past 8 years.

BURT stated he was, during 1948, a smoke jumper in the northwest and was a charter member of the Seattle Parachute Club in 1950. During that period of time he was employed by the Standard Oil Company and worked on board ships with Seattle being his home port.

He stated he has discussed the Seattle hijacking with associates of his who currently are or have been involved in parachuting. He stated the artist's conception originally published in this matter bore some resemblance to one RALPH WHITE, an aerial photographer and parachutist who has jumped at Elsinore, California, in early 1960. He added that after being made aware of the physical description of the hijacker he discounted WHITE as a possible suspect as he was less than 30 years old and was 6'3" in height.

During this interview, BURT was noted to be completely bald except for a fringe of blond, graying hair along the sides of his head. He appears Nordic in descent and has blue eyes. He does not appear to bear a

close resemblance to descriptive data furnished regarding the unknown subject in this matter and further appears to be a reputable businessman.

---

Records of the Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD), and Los Angeles County Sheriff's Office (LASO), as well as those of the Credit Bureau of Greater Los Angeles and Dun and Bradstreet, contain no derogatory information concerning BURT.

The following description was obtained through observation and interview:

---

As BURT does not appear to match physical characteristics of the unknown subject in this matter as furnished by witnesses and apparently is a reputable businessman, he does not appear to warrant consideration as a logical suspect in this matter and no further investigation is being conducted by Los Angeles at this time, unless advised to the contrary by Seattle.
