NORJAK

Re memo of SA [REDACTED] 6/7/73

RE: SUB. [REDACTED]

---

On 6/15/73 Mrs. PAGE STEELHAMMER, 2007 Gallagher Road, Centralia, Washington advised that [REDACTED] and a person he introduced as his partner came to her residence in reply to an ad for rental of a house owned by STEELHAMMER. The house is in an isolated location, [REDACTED] and is actually in Thurston County, Washington.

[REDACTED] is married and has several children and is merely an odd job man around thr area. He has been very secretive and has all sorts of no trespassing signs on the property and in general has made the STEELHAMMER family very suspicious. His actions and those of his family caused the STEELHAMMER family and their acquaintances to refer to [REDACTED] as "D.B. COOPER" in a joking way. However his actions did cause Mrs. STEELHAMMER to notify the FBI of his presence now that he is [REDACTED]

---

Members of the STEELHAMMER family viewed the two colored composites in this matter and all stated neither [REDACTED] nor his unknown partner resemble the subject of NORJAK in even a remote way.

---

No further investigation is warranted in this matter.

---

IT IS SUGGESTED THAT IN THE FUTURE WHEN COMPLAINTS RE THE SUBJECT IN THIS MATTER ARE HANDLED BY HEADQUARTERS CITY CLERKS OR AGENTS THAT MORE DETAIL BE SECURED TO ELIMINATE THE COVERING OF LEADS SUCH AS THIS WHICH ARE AT BEST UNFOUNDED SUSPICION. IT IS TO BE NOTED IN THIS CASE THAT [REDACTED] HAD BLONDE HAIR WITH NO MENTION OF IT HAVING BEEN DYED.
