On the afternoon of October 6, 1975, SA JOHN W. FRAZER, [b6/b7C] [redacted] had occasion to be at the Muskego, Wisconsin, Police Department during the course of a fugitive investigation involving DAVID ARTHUR STAUDT.
While at the Muskego Police Department at approximately 5:10 PM, a telephone call was received at that department from an individual claiming to be DAVID ARTHUR STAUDT. The call was received by Muskego police Sergeant [redacted] and was monitored on an extension by SA FRAZER.
The individual calling said words to the effect, "This is DAVID STAUDT. I want to thank your guys for not shooting me the other night. What happened to the money that was recovered?" When told that the Muskego Police Department had possession of a sum of money STAUDT stated, "I borrowed that money from friends in Colorado to pay back my parents for putting up bail for me".
Sergeant [redacted] advised STAUDT that if he would surrender [b6/b7C] himself the matter of the money could be discussed after its ownership was determined. At this point STAUDT advised that he was going to contact his lawyer and was seriously considering surrendering. He indicated he would likely surrender the next day at either the Milwaukee Police Department or at the Muskego Police Department. At this point Sergeant [redacted] told STAUDT it would be to his advantage to surrender that evening and offered to assist him in any way he could. STAUDT stated that he would think about it and the conversation was terminated.
