Re: Suspect PATRICK JOSEPH COLLINS
On the evening of 11/22/74, COLLINS telephonically contacted the Salt Lake City Office of the FBI at 8:40 p.m. and was subsequently connected telephonically with SA RICHARD W. HEAD.
It was obvious that COLLINS was intoxicated; however, he related that he had been a smoke jumper at Missoula, Montana, working for the Johnson Flying Service and that he was in fact D. B. COOPER. COLLINS initially stated that he was D. C. COOPER.
COLLINS was questioned extensively as to the sequence of events regarding captioned skyjacking and he was not correct in all respects as to known information regarding captioned skyjacking in that he indicated he boarded the hijacked aircraft at Seattle and obtained the money at Portland.

Olympia, Wahsington, behind the residence of an individual named [REDACTED b6, b7C] COLLINS stated he was not sure of the amount of the money but believed it to be approximately $200,000.00.
COLLINS indicated he was 49 years of age, 5'9" tall, having brown hair, hazel eyes, and weighs 160 pounds, and that he was calling from the Rose Bowl Bar, Salt Lake City, Utah, and was employed by the Yellow Cab Company, Salt Lake City, Utah.
On 11/25/74, [REDACTED b6, b7C] Yellow Cab Company, 350 West South Temple, Salt Lake City, Utah, advised that on 11/22/74, cab driver [REDACTED] drove COLLINS to the Rose Bowl Bar during the evening hours and since COLLINS did not have any money she held his wallet. [REDACTED] advised that on 11/23/74, COLLINS came to the Yellow Cab Office and left $2.55 for [REDACTED] which was cab fare and stated he was taking a bus to Palo Alto, California, and would write, giving an address in order that his wallet could be returned to him.
[REDACTED b6, b7C] stated COLLINS had worked for approximately one month for the Yellow Cab Company and was fired about six weeks ago since he is a "wino."
[REDACTED b6, b7C] was shown artists conceptions of Unsub and stated that COLLINS did resemble the artists conceptions; however, described him as being in his mid-50's, 5'7" or 5'8" in height, weighing 135 pounds and being a WM.
On 11/25/74, COLLINS' wallet was examined and it was determined his SSAN is 516-22-7216, C number 7 722 572, and is issued a VA Hospital card at Sheridan, Wyoming.
COLLINS' wallet contained an address for one PAUL TURNER, 21901 76th West, Edmonds, Washington 98020, and a business card with COLLINS' name on it for Align-Rite Body Shop, East 903 Pacific, Spokane, Washington.

Seattle Division will note that there are numerous inconsistencies in the story related by COLLINS; however, in view of his intoxicated condition and the passage of three years since captioned skyjacking, it is believed COLLINS should be eliminated through investigation.
