WILLIAM CHARLES SMITH - SUB 744

---

Inquiry at Portland State University (PSU) by SA [REDACTED] on February 21, 1975, disclosed residence for former student WILLIAM CHARLES SMITH to be [REDACTED] [REDACTED] No records are maintained by PSU disclosing dates of class attendance.

---

Mrs. EDGAR L. NEWKIRK, 7908 SE 62nd Avenue, advised that WILLIAM CHARLES SMITH is her husband's nephew. For a portion of the time SMITH attended PSU, he resided at their residence. She is not certain of the exact dates of his residence, but she is certain that during that time, he had no spare money from any source and that she knows of her personal knowledge that SMITH pilfered money from a container into which she places her spare change as a means of saving. She stated that although she and her husband provided room and board for SMITH, he was extremely inconsiderate in his care of their home and his regard for their convenience. He kept highly irregular hours and was in all a very incon- siderate house guest. When his residence there became intolerable, she asked him to leave and has heard very little of him since, however, she understands he has been barely making ends meet and does not appear to have had access to any considerable funds.
