A person reads every report. Corrections are made by hand, to the data — titles, dates, names, which pages belong together — never to the scans, and they can take a while to appear.

Re Suspect RICHARD F. HESLIN

On 2/27/76, PIERCEY HEROLD, 2964 St. Mary's Circle, Salt Lake City, Utah, telephoned the Portland Office long distance to furnish the following information:

He is a retired sergeant from the Salt Lake City Police Department, where he worked on the Robbery Detail. He is now employed by the Union Pacific Railroad and can be reached at telephone 363-1544 at Salt Lake City.

He recently went through some old papers and saw an article on this case. He states captioned individual, whom he arrested in 1963, fits the description of Unsub and resembles the composite sketch. He described HESLIN as white male American, age 53, 5'11" to 6', 175-180 pounds, light brown hair, eyes unknown. He thought the Portland Police Bureau might have a photograph of HESLIN.

HEROLD was asked to contact the Salt Lake City Office, but he declined stating he is tired of playing cop. He said he had once worked in the Bureau Identification Division, and thought Portland would be origin in the NORJAK case.

Portland indices indicate HESLIN was once considered in the BR suspects program but Portland does not have a photograph. Inquiry at Portland Police Bureau failed to locate any record identical with HESLIN.
