Re Seattle airtel to Portland, 3/27/72.
[REDACTED] Salem, Oregon, advised on 3/31/72, that after visiting an area previously [REDACTED] which is located approximately [REDACTED] Oregon, returned to this site with two members of the Oregon State Police (OSP). She had asked the OSP to accompany her because on the first visit she had observed a tent and bits of paraphernalia to indicate someone was living at the abandoned home site. The land is presently owned by the Georgia Pacific Company, and you are supposed to have permission before you can enter the area. The second trip was on 3/25/72, and as on the first occasion, she did not observe the individual who was living at the old homestead. The OSP determined that one person was living in a tent with no items of identification located.
On 3/31/72, [REDACTED] OSP, Albany, Oregon, advised that two of his men had accompanied [REDACTED] [REDACTED] Oregon, on 3/25/72, and determined that an unknown individual had been living at an abandoned home site for a short period of time, probably less than two weeks. Items of clothing, and of a personal nature were found in a tent, and appeared to belong to a young adult. [REDACTED] said that his men had surmised that the camp site belonged to students on spring vacation. There was no indication whatsoever to indicate that the individual was a fugitive from justice, or involved in any illegal activities, and the camp site had definitely been set up within a week or ten days. [REDACTED] pointed out that the entire Linn County mountain area was full of young people and hippie-types living in tents and shacks, and /6[guess: 2]-8/-[guess: 2]7/9
