On 11-26-71, [REDACTED] was contacted at his place of employment [REDACTED] [REDACTED] and advised that upon reading the newspaper accounts of the hijacking, which took place in Seattle on 11-24-71, he recalled to mind an individual he had [REDACTED] [REDACTED] 1971. He stated that he returned to his office and checked his records which showed that an individual by the name of JAMES D. BOOTH was the individual he was thinking about who met the descrip- tion of the hijacker as set out in the newspaper accounts. He felt that it was particularly peculiar that the hijacker had used the name D. B. COOPER and felt that the similar initials in the name JAMES D. BOOTH might be significant. He advised that Mr. BOOTH took [REDACTED] during the period 7/16-30/71. He advised Mr. BOOTH failed to pass the drivers test on 7-30-71 and was to return a week later to take another exam but did not appear. He stated that [REDACTED] [REDACTED] had had conversations with Mr. BOOTH on six or seven occasions and that BOOTH had men- tioned that he was a Marine Engineer and had worked his way up in the Merchant Marines to that position. He stated his records reflect that BOOTH was born 12-1-27, was 6' tall, 180 pounds, straight black hair and a light complexion. He advised that Mr. BOOTH was unmarried, appeared to be younger than his age and gave an address of Box 489, Seattle, telephone MA. 2-4851, which is the Moore Hotel, Second and Virginia. BOOTH also mentioned that he had been shipwrecked at one time and [REDACTED] felt that he was a very mature and stable in- dividual.
