The United Airlines (UA) employee advised that an individual whose true name is [REDACTED], according, to rumor, [REDACTED] in Denver, Colorado, for a period of time shortly before the skyjacking. [REDACTED] allegedly was a military trained paratrooper and a sky- diver by hobby. Seattle should consider setting out leads for the Denver Division to conduct all logical record checks for a period of at least two years prior to November 1971 to determine if a [REDACTED] was re- siding in that area at that time. Denver might also be instructed to attempt to develop information con- cerning UA employees that were based in their area during the pertinent period for interview to either prove or disprove these rumors. Consideration might also be given to setting out appropriate leads for the Chicago Division to contact appropriate UA officials at their Headquarters in Chicago to deter- mine if there is any substance to the above rumor, bearing in mind the fact that previously UA officials allegedly attempted to squelch the rumor.
