On 12/15/76, [REDACTED b6/b7C] Oregon, telephone [REDACTED b6/b7C] advised the following:
He has [REDACTED b6/b7C] is very friendly with a man who formerly [REDACTED b6/b7C] Washington. [REDACTED b6/b7C] at this time.
According to [REDACTED b6/b7C] told him that [REDACTED b6/b7C] had advised him that recently [REDACTED b6/b7C] [REDACTED b6/b7C] in fact, D. B. COOPER.
According to [REDACTED b6/b7C] [REDACTED b6/b7C] and did not hijack the airliner for the money. He did it only as a challenge.
[REDACTED b6/b7C] stated he was unwilling to pursue the matter any further [REDACTED b6/b7C] in an effort to obtain more specific information concerning the identity of this individual. In addition, [REDACTED b6/b7C] was unwilling to identify [REDACTED b6/b7C] or indicate where he was employed.
In view of the above, Portland will conduct no further investigation unless advised to do so by the office of origin.
