AT WALNUT CREEK, CALIFORNIA
On 2/13/80, [REDACTED] "Contra Costa Times," Walnut Creek, CA, telephone number [REDACTED] tele- phonically contacted the writer and advised she believes she possibly knows someone who might be identical with the UNSUB in this case, D. B. Cooper.
She advised approximately four years ago when she was working for the "Oakland Tribune," an individual started writing letters to her, who indicated that he was in love with her, seeing her picture on the column in the paper. She advised this individual was obviously disturbed and she avoided contact with him until approximately one year ago when he showed up at her current em- ployment in Walnut Creek, CA.
She advised the facial features of this individual strongly resembled the composite sketch of the UNSUB in this case and she noticed from his letters and in talking to him that he was

She described his complexion as somewhat sallow or Latin appearing and he spoke with a very low voice with no notice- able accent. She advised she recalls he told her on one occasion that he had previously [REDACTED] [REDACTED] and had a photograph of himself in a [REDACTED].

She advised that [REDACTED] writes very disjointed, rumbling letters, but has very romantic, dashing ideas and feels he could possibly be the type of individual to pull off a caper such as the incident matter. She advised he always seems to have money and is unemployed as far as she knows and assumes he is in some kind of disability pension. She advised he was married [REDACTED] [REDACTED] but they are now separated as far as she knows.

AT MENLO PARK, CALIFORNIA
On 5/12/80, [redacted] was contacted at the Veterans Administration Hospital in Menlo Park, telephone number [redacted] stated that he is acquainted with [redacted] professionally in that [redacted] has been receiving treatment for [redacted] as an outpatient at the Menlo Park facility for several years. [redacted] stated that [redacted] was born in [redacted] and would have been [redacted] years of age in 1971. He stated that [redacted] was discharged from the Navy in March of [redacted] for [redacted] and was awarded a full medical dis- charge in [redacted] due to his service related [redacted] [redacted] stated that [redacted] has a history of [redacted] dating back to the early 1960's and suffers from periods of [redacted] [redacted] stated that [redacted] never spoke of his accomplishments but stated that [redacted] served as a Navy pilot and may have attained the rank of [redacted] prior to his discharge. He stated that [redacted] receives a substantial pension and had been supporting [redacted] providing [redacted] [redacted] per month. [redacted] stated that [redacted] fits the profile of D. B. Cooper in some respects in that he was born in [redacted] is a college graduate, and has an aviation background. He stated that [redacted] has an olive complexion, Latin in appearance, with dark brown or black hair, however, he stated that [redacted] is much smaller physically when compared to physical descriptive information associated with D. B. Cooper, stating that [redacted] is approximately 5'6" tall, and weighs only 135 - 140 pounds. He stated that [redacted] does smoke cigarettes, and stated that to his recollection, [redacted] does prefer a particular brand, but was un- able to recall whether or not that brand might be Raleigh filter tip cigarettes. He stated that [REDACTED] medical file fails to contain any infor- mation as to his whereabouts in 1971, and suggested that [REDACTED] military records may provide more insight into [REDACTED] past. [REDACTED] [REDACTED] stated that [REDACTED] medical records could also be ob- tained under subpoena.
