Details: On 11/11/1997, Portland received a telephone call from [REDACTED] date of birth [REDACTED], Fantastic Sams, (Rogers Square) [REDACTED] Portland, Oregon, work number [REDACTED] [REDACTED] pager number [REDACTED] [REDACTED] related the following story:

Last week a man came in to have his hair cut. He took a liking to the woman [REDACTED] who cut his hair. He encouraged [REDACTED] to leave everything and come with him. He stated that his name was D.B. Cooper and paid with a one hundred dollar bill. This man has returned to the shop periodically and on one occasion made such a scene that they called the police. The man left before the police responded.

---

[REDACTED] stated that the man came to the shop one time when they were closed and she did not let him in. He wanted to leave a message for [REDACTED] made him write it down and shove the note under the door. The man wrote on the back of a business card. The note stated, "I need to confess my sin," contained telephone number [REDACTED] and it was signed D.B. Cooper. The man was described as 5'10" to 6', nice build, approximately 60 years of age, shaved head (which he had asked to have done there), mustache and beard, athletic looking and dressed in outdoors type clothing. The workers in the shop attempted to discourage this man from coming around so they did not engage him in conversation to determined if he claimed to be the D.B. Cooper from the highjacking many years ago. In fact [REDACTED] stated that most of the younger hairdressers did not recognize the name D.B. Cooper. The man just stated his name was D.B. Cooper and wrote it on the note pushed under the door. [REDACTED] [REDACTED] advised that she had thrown the note away, but upon reflection decided to retrieve it and call the Portland FBI Office.
