A person reads every report. Corrections are made by hand, to the data — titles, dates, names, which pages belong together — never to the scans, and they can take a while to appear.

RE: Information concerning Hijacking of Northwest 305.

---

Dear [REDACTED]

This letter is in reference to your letter dated August 29, 2002 directed to Special Agent [REDACTED] of the Shreveport Office of the FBI.

Your letter advises that you have a client who has information concerning the identity of the hijacker of NW 305, commonly referred to in the media as "D.B. Cooper." You request certain guarantees concerning protection of your client's identity and information concerning any available reward.

The FBI routinely receives information in confidence from citizens throughout the U.S., and elsewhere. There are established procedures to accommodate these requests. However, it is necessary that you advise what specific evidence your client can provide that the person he/she refers to actually hijacked the referenced flight. Please also advise how this client came to possess this information, and when.

We would appreciate you providing this information either to SA [REDACTED] or myself, at your earliest convenience.

Sincerely,

[REDACTED] Supervisory Special Agent
