NORJAK PERSONNEL NEEDS, SEATTLE DIVISION

At 10:22 a.m., 3/31/72, [REDACTED] Office at the Bureau, called and instructed that four Los Angeles Agents be selected to participate in a terrain search in connection with captioned matter. Agents are to report 6:00 p.m. Monday, 4/3/72, at the Longview Resident Agency.

[REDACTED] said Agents selected should be young, healthy and strong, capable of working under highly difficult circum- stances. He said many Agents are being transported to the search scene by helicopter, after which they make the search and are later picked up by helicopter. No Agents selected should be on probation or other disciplinary action. It is anticipated these Agents will be needed two weeks.

[REDACTED] instructed Seattle be contacted to determine the specifics as to clothing, etc.

[REDACTED] also instructed an airtel be submitted to the Bureau and Seattle containing identities of Agents selected.

ADDENDUM: ASAC [REDACTED] 3/31/72

ASAC PAUL R. BIBLER, Seattle, advised at 12:30 p.m., 3/31/72, that Agents are to report by 6:00 p.m. Monday, 4/3/72, at Vancouver, Washington and not the Longview Resident Agency as stated by [REDACTED]. He said personnel participating in the search will be staying at the Quay Inn, Vancouver, Washington. He said Agents should fly to Portland and that Vancouver is just across the river.

With respect to the Agents selected, he said they should be young and the "hiking type." All should bring gloves, waterproof-type shoes because of the rains and warm clothing. He said it would not be necessary to bring knapsacks or rain coats.
