Dear Sir:

I telephoned SA [REDACTED] to report possible relationship between the sky-jack between Reno and Portland or Seattle about 1½ to 2 years ago, wherein the sky-jacker made a successful get-away with $250,000 (as nearly as I can recall) and has not been identified or located, and the sadistic rapist in San Francisco a week ago. (Sacramento Bee news- paper clipping enclosed.)

Sadistic Rapist Attacks Napa Woman

SAN FRANCISCO (AP) — A nationwide description has been issued of a man without a navel who police believe raped, beat, stabbed and shot a Napa woman in a hotel here, officials said.

"It's one of the more perverse and sadistic incidents we've had," Inspector Chris Sullivan said Wednesday. "It was definitely set up. He already had a chain, handcuffs and tape in the room when he brought her there."

Victim 'Mutilated' The woman, 25, is hospitalized in stable condition. Sullivan said she was mutilated, "her buttocks beaten

raw" and a bullet creased her forehead.

He said she told police she accepted a shared cab ride with a man. She said when they arrived near his hotel he shoved a gun into her side and forced her to accompany him.

The woman was assaulted for a 22-hour period on the 19th floor of the Holiday Inn on Kearny St., Sullivan said.

Left Nude, Bound The woman told police the man left Wednesday morning, saying he had to catch an airline flight. She later managed to reach the hallway, nude and still bound, where she was dis-

covered by a chambermaid, Sullivan said.

He said the assailant had registered under the name Henry H. Cooper of Reno, Nev. "He spoke with a western twang, dressed in expensive western clothes and cowboy boots and was loaded with $100 bills.

"But the most unusual thing about him was that he didn't have a belly button," Sullivan added. "It's not impossible, I understand, if he had surgery for a hernia as a youngster."
