What is wrong (title, date, type, which pages belong together, copies)?

A person reads every report. Corrections are made by hand, to the data — titles, dates, names, which pages belong together — never to the scans, and they can take a while to appear.

Dear [REDACTED]:

---

Unfortunately, there remains only a limited number of copies of the ransom list. It therefore is not possible to send copies of the list to everyone requesting them.

Might I suggest, if you have a serial number you wish to check, to contact your local sheriff's office or bank as they should both be in possession of the ransom list.

As you know, it is only through the cooperation by citizens such as yourself that this crime might be solved. Thank you for your interest in this matter.

Sincerely,

Philip T. Basher Special Agent in Charge
