Sergeant Major ROBERT LEE BROTZMAN, G/5 Section, 18th Airborne Corps, Fort Bragg, North Carolina, was contacted at his place of employment at which time the identity of the interviewing Agent and nature of the interview was made known to him. He furnished the following information:

He stated that he is aware of the hijacking concerning "D. B. COOPER" having read about this hijacking in a sports parachute magazine. He stated that in addition to this, he has seen several tee shirts with the name D. B. COOPER stenciled on them in several sports parachute clubs that he has been associated with over the years.

He stated on many occasion, he has been kidded about being a "look alike" to the artist's description of D. B. COOPER by members of units that he has belonged to in the Army and in other sports parachute clubs.

Sergeant Major BROTZMAN advised he returned from Panama to Fort Bragg, North Carolina, on Thursday, November 11, 1976, and that he joined the sports parachute club of the 18th Airborne Corps the following week.

He stated he made his first "free fall" parachute jump with the 18th Airborne Corps Sports Parachute Club on November 20, 1976, after joining the parachute club. He stated he has been a parachutist since June of 1954 and has been a "sky diver" or "free fall" parachutist since November of 1972.

Sergeant Major BROTZMAN advised he has been in the United States Army since August 14, 1953, and received his parachute wings in June, 1954, and has been jumping since that date.

He stated he went to Viet Nam, September 25, 1970, and returned on May 2, 1972, and was not in the continental United States at the time of the hijack.

Sergeant Major BROTZMAN stated that he could furnish no additional information concerning this matter and stated he would be willing to submit to any type of examinations, tests, including polygraph or other interviews with other individuals familiar with this case in order to clear his name. He stated he feels that his name was furnished to the FBI inasmuch as the first day he went to the drop zone to sky dive on November 20, 1976, he introduced himself by name and duty station to all people present and that apparently someone recognized a picture in the newspaper of COOPER and felt that he, BROTZMAN, resembled COOPER.
