Details: This case remains the only unsolved hijacking in the United States and is commonly referred to as the "D.B. Cooper" investigation.
LYNN DOYLE COOPER (deceased) was identified by [REDACTED] [REDACTED] who resides in Oklahoma City. [REDACTED] Oklahoma City State Trooper [REDACTED] Oklahoma City Division FBI Special Agent [REDACTED] The Trooper reported to [REDACTED] that [REDACTED] had credible information that [REDACTED] LYNN was the individual who hijacked Northwest Airlines flight #305 on November 24, 1971 and that he was DAN COOPER, aka D. B. COOPER. [REDACTED] reported the information to Seattle and subsequently, leads were generated

to Oklahoma City Division to interview [REDACTED] and Las Vegas Division to interview [REDACTED]
The information provided by [REDACTED] was found to be credible and compelling. [REDACTED] photographs of COOPER from December, 1972, approximately one year after the hijacking. Las Vegas located the former residence of COOPER and discovered that he had died 11 years ago. [REDACTED] was interviewed and she provided a copy of his death certificate. [REDACTED] was completely unaware that [REDACTED] may have been responsible for the hijacking.

The photographs of COOPER [REDACTED] were sent to Seattle. The photograph bore an extreme likeness to D.B. COOPER. A lead was generated to Columbia Division to show the photographs to [REDACTED] [REDACTED] flight attendants on flight #305 who spent an extended amount of time with D. B. COOPER and clearly saw him while he was hijacking the plane.

However, [REDACTED] to see D. B. COOPER without his sunglasses on which he wore the majority of the time during the hijacking of the aircraft. When [REDACTED] observed the photographs, she stated to the interviewing agents that the photographs of COOPER bear the closest resemblance to D. B. COOPER she has seen of possible suspects over the past 39 years.

Subsequently, another lead was generated to Las Vegas to re-interview [REDACTED] and obtain a buccal DNA swab from [REDACTED] Las Vegas successfully obtained the swabs which are currently checked into the Reno RA's evidence locker.
The FBI Laboratory is requested to conduct DNA analysis on submitted items 1B3 and 1B4 to determine if LYNN DOYLE COOPER could possibly be a donor of the DNA evidence currently maintained for subject DAN COOPER, aka D. B. COOPER.
