Dear John,

Excuse my "personal letter" and lack of the 302, but I wanted to drop you a line. Please forward this info to [REDACTED]

Virtually all the description compares with [REDACTED] Age [REDACTED] about 5'10-5'11 weighs now about 200 lbs but years ago weighed much less - quite thin olive-type complexion Dark hair combed back-straight Very polite, friendly, low-voice * Extremely heavy smoker - now of cork tipped cigarette - possibly Marlboro - the same type as Raleigh. (more [guess: below]) Obviously has good [guess: attributes] & [guess: bicep]. Reasonably good athlete.

I haven't been able to establish whether he traveled around Thanksgiving, 1971, but [guess: Holiday] time [guess: would] [guess: be] [redacted] [guess: natural] for [REDACTED] I'm going to go to the local library in a day or two, to see if [guess: by] [guess: chance] I could find [REDACTED] this could possibly be in the Frankfort Times. His background: His [REDACTED]

[REDACTED]

[REDACTED] all are extremely kind, [guess: likable], personable, but not too [guess: sharp] a too hard working. I was raised with the family, [REDACTED] [REDACTED]. As near as I could find out, [REDACTED] was in the [REDACTED] in the early [REDACTED] but it somehow sticks in my mind that he had something to do with flying or parachuting. In recent years he was [REDACTED]

his whole family doesn't really worry about money - this bothers me. They're all quite free & easy. I can't imagine who he could get to help him, but he could be in California to visit [REDACTED] in the LA area. I assume the $200,000 was serialized & hasn't appeared, but a real good possibility would be for the money to be "do[uble] cleared" through the bank [REDACTED]

The [guess: unsub] "Cooper" doesn't ring a bell to me, although that is a common name around here. I talked with [REDACTED] about [REDACTED]

If he is to be interviewed, I would strongly recommend that [REDACTED]. It is very important to stay out of his office. It is quite public and he could have a gun in his desk - & you might not know how he could [illegible] [REDACTED]

and embarrassment to him. I haven't been able to do more without making it public - [REDACTED] is still a very close friend of mine, but so much of this case fits into this possibility. Hope I can help more [REDACTED]

P.S. Sorry for the long letter, but I needed to get it down on paper. See you!
