The following is a brief summary of investigation conducted re suspect JESSE EDWIN BELL:

On 12/7/71, [REDACTED] furnished the following:

[REDACTED]. Informant [REDACTED] met an individual identifying himself as JESSE BELL who stated he worked for the telephone company. BELL stated he was in possession of $5,000 cash [REDACTED]. BELL is currently working at Springfield, Oregon, at Fourth and "A" Street, Springfield. [REDACTED] furnished a photograph of JESSE BELL which bears a resemblance to the composite.

---

On 12/7/71, [REDACTED] was shown a photograph of BELL and advised this is in fact the individual who claimed responsibility for the hijacking.

---

A witness in Eugene was displayed a spread of photographs on 12/8/71, and stated that the photograph of BELL bears a resemblance to the hijacker of the Northwest[REDACTED] Airlines flight.

---

BELL's photograph and a negative have been mailed to Portland. It should be noted that the photographs of BELL are inadvertently made with the negative turned upside down which causes BELL's hair to appear parted on the right- hand side.
