The following investigation was conducted by SA [REDACTED]:

AT PORTLAND, OREGON

On December 3, 1971, [REDACTED] advised that [REDACTED] was employed [REDACTED]. She and [REDACTED] [REDACTED], advised they did not personally

---

On December 3, 1971, [REDACTED] was interviewed. It was noted that his facial features did not resemble the artist's conception of the hijacker. Specifically, [REDACTED] is [REDACTED] years of age, has blue eyes and medium brown to light brown hair, a very noticeable cleft in his chin and a large, prominent nose.

---

[REDACTED] advised that the artist's conception of the hijacker does not resemble anyone he knows. He has been involved [REDACTED] in the Portland metropolitan area since [REDACTED].

---

[REDACTED]. He has had occasion to meet other persons involved [REDACTED] in the Seattle, Washington; Eugene, Oregon; Medford, Oregon; and Corvallis, Oregon, areas. He suggested talking to [REDACTED] since the hijacker's age would be nearer [REDACTED] age than his own, and [REDACTED] would possibly be familiar with individuals who were in sky- diving activities prior to 1964.

---

On December 3, 1971, [REDACTED] [REDACTED], advised that the artist's conception of the hijacker is not familiar to him. He has [REDACTED] [REDACTED] when he was in the military. From what he has heard and read about the hijacker, he feels that the hijacker was possibly in the Special Forces (Green Berets), since the Special Forces did considerable parachuting at night time and from large planes and learned exiting from

high-speed aircraft, determination of flight patterns, ap- proaches, how to calculate air speed, free falls, and so forth.

He feels the Woodland, Washington, area, where the newspapers indicated a search is under way, would be a poor area in which to parachute since there is a narrow gorge, numerous trees and a populated area. He feels any- where in the Willamette Valley of Oregon would be very ac- ceptable for a night time jump, explaining that it is a flat area and it may have been possible to have seen the Aurora beacon or the Eugene beacon in the event the hijacker needed a ground signal. He did not think jump boots would have been necessary since the soggy ground would have lessened the chance for foot or leg injury. He expressed the opinion the hijacker could have acted alone and could have escaped on the ground by having a parked vehicle in the vicinity of the jump or possibly have taken off in another plane.

---

He pointed out that he, [REDACTED], was out of the military for [REDACTED] [REDACTED]. He emphasized that he does not consider it any particular feat to do night time jumping if one has had this training in the Special Forces. He doubted that the average skydiver would have this capability.
