RE: [REDACTED]

---

The following investigation was conducted by SA [REDACTED] at Portland, Oregon:

Recontacts with [REDACTED] in regards to suspect, [REDACTED] [REDACTED], through 12/8/71 disclosed that [REDACTED] remains inside his home most of the time and seldom comes out except to go on extended trips with [REDACTED] occasionally. On 12/3/71, [REDACTED] was shown the glossy composite photograph of captioned Unsub, wearing glasses. [REDACTED] [REDACTED] stated that his original tentative identification of [REDACTED] as being identical with the captioned Unsub was based on a very poor reproduction of this composite photograph which he saw in the newspapers.

---

On 12/28/71, [REDACTED] was shown the composite photograph of the Unsub, without glasses, and stated that [REDACTED] was in no way similar to this repre- sentation. [REDACTED] advised that [REDACTED] has medium h[guess: igh] length light brownish, almost blondish, hair and that he usually wears a hippie type band around his head and fore- head and affects hippie type clothing.

---

Periodic attempts were made to interview [REDACTED] at his home of [REDACTED]; however, [REDACTED] either was not at home or did not respond to his door being knocked upon. Surveillances from parked automobiles in the neighborhood also were attempted on several occasions during this period but nothing was ever noticed which would indicate [REDACTED] was home. [REDACTED] states that

he has seen [REDACTED] periodically during this time and that [REDACTED] returned home from out of town on 12/27/71. [REDACTED] [REDACTED] advised that he considered [REDACTED] who does not work, but lives off of [REDACTED] [REDACTED]. He described [REDACTED] as being very lazy and irresponsible.

UACSE, no further investigation will be conducted by Portland Division on [REDACTED] due to he is obviously not being identical with the instant Unsub, due to the above. The following lead is set forth for Seattle's consideration if they deem it advisable to pursue the [REDACTED] matter any further.
