The following investigation was conducted by SA [REDACTED].

AT PORTLAND, OREGON

On January 6, 1972, SA DON STEELE, Seattle Division, the Seattle Office desired that the parachute recovered by the Multnomah County Sheriff's Office be shipped to Seattle, Washington, by the most expeditious means possible.

On January 6, 1972, SA [REDACTED] obtained the recovered parachute from Sergeant [REDACTED] [REDACTED] Intelligence Unit, Multnomah County Sheriff's Office. SA [REDACTED] left a receipt with the Sheriff's Office and initialled and dated the parachute before turning over the parachute to SA [REDACTED].

SAs [REDACTED] then packaged the parachute and hand carried it to the Portland International Airport where the box containing the parachute was given to [REDACTED] Northwest Orient Airlines. [REDACTED] and advised he would keep the box in his personal custody until such time as he landed in Seattle, Washington, where he would personally hand the box to SA DON STEELE, Seattle Division.

---

On January 7, 1972, Assistant Special Agent in Charge VINCENT E. RUEHL orally advised SA [REDACTED] that the Seattle Division had examined the parachute in question and after displaying it to knowledgeable individuals in that area had determined that the parachute was definitely not the parachute used by unknown subject in this matter.
