7-1b REPORT of the FBI LABORATORY FEDERAL BUREAU OF INVESTIGATION WASHINGTON, D. C. 20535

To: SAC, Seattle (164-81) Date: May 3, 1972 FBI File No. 164-2111 Re: NORJAK. Lab. No. D-720502001 LL

Specimens received 4/29/72, from FBI, Seattle:

K5 Interrogation; Advice of Rights form dated 4/26/72 signed [REDACTED] b6 b7C ALSO SUBMITTED: Major case prints of DONALD SYLVESTER MURPHY

Specimens received 5/1/72, from FBI, Atlanta:

Q46 [REDACTED] b6 b7C

Q47 [REDACTED]

Result of examination:

It was not determined whether any of the questioned writing on Q46 and Q47 was prepared by [REDACTED] b6 whose known signatures appear on K5 and on a fingerprint card b7C under [REDACTED]. A conclusion could not be reached in this regard because the known handwriting of [REDACTED] available for comparison is not sufficiently adequate to permit a satisfactory examination.

No evidence of alteration was found in the [REDACTED] b6 typewritten amount on Q47 or the [REDACTED] handwritten amount b7C on Q46. However, the possibility that additional zeros could have been added to these figures after the initial preparation of these documents could not be eliminated. /64-41-/012

K5 is returned herewith to Seattle. Q46 and Q47 are being returned to Atlanta with copies of this report. Photographs of these specimens are retained. The disposition of the ALSO SUBMITTED material will be furnished separately. SEARCHED __ INDEXED __ SERIALIZED __ FILED __ DB Cooper-42298 MAY 5 1972 FBI—PORTLAND

Examination requested by: Seattle

Reference: Teletype 4/29/72

Examination requested: Document - Fingerprint

Remarks:

The disposition of the ALSO SUBMITTED material will be furnished with the results of the fingerprint examination.

For your information the [REDACTED] signatures on b6 Q47 were written in a different style from the known signatures b7c of [REDACTED] appearing on K5 and on a fingerprint card under [REDACTED]. It may be possible that [REDACTED] may have more than one writing style and may prepare his signature in more than one way. If [REDACTED] is available, you may wish to submit additional samples of his known signatures and/or handwriting samples and hand printing samples in the complete wording of the questioned writing.
