Enclosed herewith for Seattle are two copies of FD-302 interview of WILLIAM CHARLES NYE, Roseburg, Oregon.

On 4/18/78, Investigator [REDACTED] Oregon State Police, Roseburg, Oregon, telephone [REDACTED] advised that he had written a report concerning WILLIAM NYE and had furnished same to Oregon State Police Headquarters in Salem, Oregon, after conversing with complainant [REDACTED] who resides at [REDACTED], telephone [REDACTED]. Trooper [REDACTED] stated that his department was conducting no further investigation, as he was of the opinion that [REDACTED] had absolutely no basis or justification to believe that WILLIAM CHARLES NYE, who is employed as a car salesman in Roseburg, Oregon, and resides at Route 2, Box 1185, Roseburg, Oregon (Coles Valley Road), is identical to or in any way resembles D. B. COOPER.

On 4/19/78, [REDACTED] telephone [REDACTED], was contacted, and at that time stated that WILLIAM CHARLES NYE, approximately age 50, resides [REDACTED] at Route 2, Box 1185. He stated that NYE is presently employed as a car salesman for Burness Oldsmobile in Roseburg, Oregon, and believes he previously worked for Northwest Orient Airlines, capacity

unknown. He stated that NYE apparently moved from Minnesota this past summer and is described as a white male, approximately 6'0", 200 pounds, with dark colored, graying, curly, neat hair. He said that there is nothing that he can put his finger on concerning why he believes that NYE might be D. B. COOPER, other than he had seen an artist's conception several years ago and felt there was some resemblance. He stated that NYE apparently has a good education, however, he does not believe he is using it in his employment as a car salesman. He feels that NYE always seems to have a little extra money, more than a car salesman would make. He stated that NYE is a likeable person, and there is no other reason for his feeling that NYE might be D. B. COOPER. He indicated that NYE owns a Ford station wagon, which is usually parked in the drive in front of his residence.

On 4/19/78, visual observation of the WILLIAM C. NYE residence disclosed a 1970 Ford station wagon, bearing Oregon license JNK 599.

On 4/20/78, an inquiry was made to the Department of Motor Vehicles, Salem, Oregon, via state teletype concerning Oregon license JNK 599, and via return state teletype, the Department of Motor Vehicles advised that this plate appears on a 1970 Ford four-door wagon, VIN OP75Y153103, license expiring September, 1979, registered to WILLIAM C. NYE, DOB 9/14/30, and LENNA V. NYE, DOB 5/6/19, residing at Route 2, Box 1185, Roseburg, Oregon.

On 4/20/78, a second state teletype was sent to the Driver's License Section of the Department of Motor Vehicles concerning WILLIAM C. NYE, born 9/14/30, and via return state teletype, the Department of Motor Vehicles advised that WILLIAM CHARLES NYE, residing at Route 2, Box 1185, Roseburg, Oregon, holds Oregon driver's license number 2977778, which was issued 11/21/77, and expires 9/14/82. NYE's DOB was given as 9/14/30, and he was described as a male, 6'0" tall, 210 pounds. As of 4/20/78, the operator's license was valid, and there were no entries of citations.
