Subject: D. B. COOPER; INFORMATION CONCERNING
---
On 3/5/88, at approximately 11:00 a.m., writer was contacted by a [REDACTED] Pendleton, Oregon [REDACTED], telephone number [REDACTED], and [REDACTED] advised that approximately 17-18 years prior to captioned date, she and her husband had been given a painting entitled "The Final Resting Place" by an individual they knew by the name of M. G. COOPER who also was the artist of the painting. She and her husband knew him through [REDACTED] occasionally. She said the individual told them that the painting was worth $450.00 but [REDACTED], he gave it to them as a gift.
---
On 3/5/88, [REDACTED] was cleaning around the area where the painting hung and took it down and glanced on the back of the painting and saw a signature inscribed on the back which read to the effect of "D. B. COOPER". [REDACTED] advised she had never noticed this before and thought she would call and advise the FBI of her finding. The front of the painting did not have the same signature as the back, and it read "M. G. COOPER".
---
[REDACTED] said the last she heard of M. G. COOPER was that he had disappeared after he gave them the painting and resurfaced having a lot of physical disabilities, and she then heard that he had passed away not long after resurfacing.
---
Writer told [REDACTED] that she would disseminate this information to her supervisor and the matter would be in their hands for what action they thought necessary.
This information is provided to the desk for whatever action is deemed appropriate.
