Memorandum

To : SAC, CHARLOTTE (164-219) (C) Date 1/31/83

From : SA [REDACTED]

Subject : NORJACK (00: SEATTLE)

---

On 1/31/83, [REDACTED], Mayodan, N.C., telephone [REDACTED], was contacted regarding information relating to captioned matter. [REDACTED] stated that several years ago he had observed the composite drawing of D.B. COOPER as it appeared in a magazine. This drawing closely resembled an [REDACTED] identified as [REDACTED], who resides in [REDACTED], N.C.

[REDACTED] stated that [REDACTED] and an individual identified as [REDACTED] had discussed captioned matter during one of [REDACTED], and both [REDACTED] and [REDACTED] indicated that it would be easy to succeed in a criminal act such as perpetrated by D.B. COOPER. [REDACTED] became suspicious of their comments regarding the hijacking of this airplane, and after several years, deemed it necessary to notify the authorities. [REDACTED] further noted that [REDACTED] and [REDACTED] served in the Army or Air Force, perhaps in the capacity of paratroopers.

[REDACTED] stated that his suspicion regarding [REDACTED] and [REDACTED] stems from the resemblance of the composite drawing of D.B. COOPER and the facial features of [REDACTED], along with their discussion of the hijacking during the aforementioned [REDACTED] approximately [REDACTED] years ago. Furthermore, [REDACTED] bases his suspicion on the fact that both [REDACTED] and [REDACTED] are [REDACTED] individuals, who would certainly attempt such a feat.

In view of the non-specific nature of [REDACTED] allegations, no further investigation is being conducted re captioned matter. It is noted that no communication is being dispatched to office of origin in this matter in view of the non-specific nature of the allegations.

The conversation with [REDACTED] is being made a matter of record in view of his propensity to call other law enforcement agencies to discuss the D.B. COOPER incident. [REDACTED] has contacted Chief ED SHELTON, Mayodan, N.C. PD regarding the NORJACK case.)
