Reference Los Angeles teletype to Director dated 3/23/72.
On 3/24/72 [REDACTED], Hertz Rent-A- Car, 6th and Union, Seattle, Washington, advised that on 2/23/72 he rented a automobile to a [REDACTED] at 8:11 a.m. He stated that he does not recall [REDACTED], however, review of the rental records indicated that the automobile was rented by him. [REDACTED] furnished as identification and paid for the rental with a [REDACTED] which listed his name as [REDACTED] Tarzana, California. The automobile was rented at the 6th and Union office of Hertz and was returned to that office at 2:58 p.m. on 2/23/72 after having been driven 52 miles. [REDACTED] stated that although he does not recall this transaction specifically, he feels that probably [REDACTED] took a cab from the Edgewater Inn to the Hertz office which cab would have been paid for by Hertz as this is their standard practice rather than delivering the car to the Edgewater or having the person desiring to rent a car be picked up and transported to their office.
