RAYMOND SIDNEY RUSSELL also known as R. SID RUSSELL, was interviewed at his summer residence at Whitney Pond, Oxford, Maine. He was advised of the personal and official identities of the interviewing Agents. He was advised of the nature of the investigation being conducted. He was advised of his rights by Special Agent WILLIAM F. CRATE, JR. and waived them as shown on an executed Warning and Waiver Form. Thereafter, he furnished the following information:

He was advised that his name had come up regarding the hijacking of the Northwest Airlines jet in Washington State in November of 1971. He furnished the following information regarding his background and his activities so as to provide an alibi for his not being involved or a suspect in that hijack. He stated that he returned to Maine with his mother in the summer of 1971 and has not been back to the west coast since that time. Prior to his departure from the west coast he was working for the Yosemite Highlands Real Estate Development in Groveland, California, and his mother had stayed with him while he was there. He stated his previous airline and flying background included being an inspector in the final assembly section of boeing aircraft in 1947 and 1948 and that he used to fly with the Flying Tiger Airlines out of Seattle, Washington until he quit in February, 1963. He also worked as an air traffic controler in Seattle, Washington for the Federal Aviation Administration and in this regard stated that his thoughts regarding the skyjacking was that there was a fan marker which gives out a light and audio signal which is 75 megacycles located near Woodburn, Washington and he speculated that the person who did this skyjacking could have used this fan marker as a point to parachute out of the hijacked aircraft. He added that he has never been in a Boeing 727 and has never had anything to do with that type aircraft. He denied ever being involved in the skyjacking.
