Re Seattle letter to Portland, 12/5/72.
For the information of Omaha, referenced communication
set forth the following background:
On 11/24/71, UNSUB, aka Dan Cooper, hijacked a
Northwest Orient Airlines plane and parachuted into an area
east of Woodland, Washington. On the assumption that UNSUB
may have made a long-distance telephone call from a pay
telephone booth, all the pay telephone booths in the Woodland
area have been checked for long-distance calls made on
11/24/71, and 11/25/71.
Butte was requested to obtain the subscriber's
name to telephone [REDACTED] area code [REDACTED] at Montpelier, Idaho.
and forward same to the Seattle Office.
On 1/17/73, a review of appropriate directories of
the City of Montpelier, Idaho, revealed there is no [REDACTED]
telephone prefix, and it was further noted that area code [REDACTED]
appears to be in the State of Iowa, rather than Idaho.
