Re memo of ASAC JOSEPH E. O'CONNELL, 4/24/73

Numerous attempts were made to contact a person referred to as [REDACTED] through the telephone number given. He had moved from [REDACTED] mentioned in the memo and the name [REDACTED] was not known at that location.

He was eventually contacted on 6/14/73 through investigation at Woodland and contact with a person found [REDACTED] [REDACTED]. The individual's name is actually [REDACTED] and he now lives at [REDACTED] in Woodland.

Previously information was furnished by [REDACTED] which was made the subject of a memo of the writer to captioned file. The memo concerned information [REDACTED] is supposed to have received concerning an unsub being known by certain associates of his. In the file there should be information from the Portland Division concerning [REDACTED] interview by a Portland agent about 2 months ago. The person who was supposed to have information on hijack subject was [REDACTED] Woodland, Wn.

[REDACTED] advised he gave all the information he had received from [REDACTED] to the Portland agent and the only new information he has is that in response to a request by the Portland agent that he recontact [REDACTED] he did so. However [REDACTED] now says he knows nothing about the matter and in fact wasn't even where he said he had been when the information re the hijacker was secured. [REDACTED] advised he feels that [REDACTED] concocted the whole story and now sees that his story could get him into trouble and has disclaimed all knowledge of such an incident as he orignally described.

Personal observation of [REDACTED] and manner in which he answered questions re this matter (very evasive and cautiously) leads the writer to believe that he was part of this concocted story.

Recommend no further investigation in this matter.
