Major General Edward F. Witsell The Adjutant General Department of the Army Washington 25, D. C.
Dear General Witsell:
I understand Captain Schuyler W. Miles, Jr., (O-493718) has made application for a commission in the Regular Army. He is now stationed as a Reserve Officer at Fort Bragg, North Carolina.
This boy is the son of an old comrade of mine in the 28th Division. His family are former residents of my home town, and they were outstanding citizens in the community. I am sure the young man has an excellent military background and service record.
I shall personally appreciate any consideration you can give to his application. May I have a report as to the possibility of his admission to the Regular Army.
With kindest regards and best wishes, believe me
Sincerely yours,
Edward Martin EDWARD MARTIN
