STEPHEN P. MERAVIT, [REDACTED] was contacted and informed by Special Agent (SA) [REDACTED] of the official nature of the inquiry and the fact that he had the right to remain silent and that anything he might say could be used in a court of law.

He was further advised that his name had been provided as being an individual who closely resembled an artist's conception of an individual who hijacked a Northwest Orient Airliner on November 24, 1971.

He stated he uses the name STEVE, and is employed as Chief of Engineering, Pais Pearl Company, 24 Aqueduct Lane, Hastings-on-Hudson, New York, telephone (914) 478-2113. This company is engaged in the production of pearl essence for use in nail polish, lipsticks, etcetera, some of it being synthetic and some being obtained through fish oil.

He advised he has no flying experience whatsoever, except as a passenger on commercial airlines, noting he has flown to Florida on vacation and has to fly to the State of Maine occasionally in connection with his employment.

On November 24, 1971, to the best of his recollection, he was at work at Pais Pearl Company, knowing with certainty that he was not on vacation or away from his employment during that period. He noted that he might have been in Maine just prior to Thanksgiving, 1971, however, he would have returned home at least one or two days prior to the holiday. He noted his employment for any specific days could be readily verified by the bookkeeper at Pais Pearl. [REDACTED]

---

He stated that he had never been in the Seattle, Washington, area and has never travelled anywhere near the Northwestern part of the United States.

He volunteered the fact that he was arrested during 1969 by the New Hampshire State Police near Gilford, New Hampshire, for "crossing the double yellow line on a motorcycle".

Interviewed on 5/31/73 at Ardsley, New York File # NY 134-627 Sub 573
