RE: Suspect WILLIAM DEENS, Suspect Number 598.

Re Seattle airtel to Boston, 6/4/73.

---

On 7/6/73, [REDACTED], Springfield, Mass., was interviewed concerning his knowledge of WILLIAM DEENS. [REDACTED] advised he has known DEENS for many years and that he himself was a pilot at one time and had met WILLIAM DEENS as a pilot. He advised DEENS was employed by American Airlines at either the number two or number three pilot, had worked for United Airlines, Antilla Airlines in the Caribbean, and Executive Airlines, which he believes to be out of Oregon. He stated DEENS resided in Montana for a time and now he believes DEENS resides in Oregon.

---

According to [REDACTED] DEENS was educated at the University of Pennsylvania after having attended Andover Prep School in Massachusetts. [REDACTED] advised DEENS'father was a doctor and his grandfather was an executive, possibly vice president, of what he believes to be New York Railway. According to [REDACTED] DEENS has been worth about a half million dollars ever since he has known him and [REDACTED] can see no reason why DEENS would become involved in anything dishonest especially anything to include aircraft hijackings.

---

[REDACTED] advised that DEENS has used his name as a reference on several occasions, he believed DEENS to be of very high character and reputation, and understands the necessity for determining the background of as many persons as possible concerning aircraft hijackings, but feels WILLIAM DEENS would be a very unlikely suspect to have committed such an act.
