Re Minneapolis airtel to Kansas City, 2/28/73.
Attempts to contact KENNETH E. CLAYTON, JR., on 2/26/73 and 3/2/73 negative.
On 3/5/73, KENNETH E. CLAYTON, JR., 6008 Mall, Mission, Kansas, personally appeared at the FBI Office at which time he advised that from his research and reading the book WHAT REALLY HAPPENED by CLIFFORD IRVING, he considers it a great possibility that CLIFFORD IRVING is in fact the D. B. COOPER who hijacked the aircraft from Northwest Airlines.
CLAYTON felt there was a great parallel between IRVING and D. B. COOPER in facial characteristics and as IRVING points out on page 26 of his book, he is a proponent and strongly believes in facial disguises. CLAYTON pointed out the numerous innuendos in the book about parachuting and in fact was in the California, West Coast area during the two days during which the hijacking occurred. Additionally, IRVING made a trip to Mexico with a friend as he points out in his book, and CLAYTON feels this possibly was a dry run in order to similate the terrain which D. B. COOPER would have to bail out of the aircraft.
CLAYTON is described as a white male, DOB 4/14/44, single, employed at Western Auto, 63rd and Nieman Road, Shawnee, Kansas, also employed at Chapman's Bar, Lenexa, Kansas, home telephone 631-0667.
SEATTLE should be aware CLAYTON appeared at the Kansas City Office 4/14/70, and advised that he was of the opinion at that time that numerous Russians were residing in his dormitory at Kansas University, Lawrence, Kansas. CLAYTON
