The following investigation was conducted by Special Agent [ ]:

On November 29, 1973, an article appeared in the News and Observer, a daily newspaper published in Raleigh, North Carolina. The article was captioned "Skyjacked Hero Still Enigma" and included an artist's composite sketch of the subject.

On November 30, 1973, information was furnished to the Charlotte Office of the FBI that the newspaper sketch of the subject resembled WILLIAM ANDREW PEACOCK, also known as Andy Peacock and Bill Peacock originally from the Duplin County, North Carolina, area.

On December 12, 1973, T. E. REVELLE, Sheriff, Duplin County, Kenansville, North Carolina, stated on viewing the artist's conception of the unknown subject in this investigation that WILLIAM ANDREW PEACOCK does not bear a resemblance to the artist's conception of the unknown subject. Sheriff REVELLE stated that WILLIAM ANDREW PEACOCK, also known as Andy and Bill Peacock is the stepson of FRED REVELLE, his deceased brother. REVELLE stated following his brother's marriage to the suspect's mother, RUBY ELLERS PEACOCK REVELLE in 1958, the subject caused his mother so much difficulty due to his drinking habits that she requested he leave home. Sheriff REVELLE further stated that PEACOCK was tried in United States District Court, Wilmington, North Carolina, in 1968 on an interstate transportation of stolen vehicle charge. Sheriff REVELLE stated that his brother FRED REVELLE died of natural causes October 26, 1973, Warsaw, North Carolina, and Sheriff REVELLE stated that he had heard PEACOCK had returned to Warsaw, North Carolina, and was working as a carpenter's helper. He further stated that PEACOCK had been in the state of Connecticut residing for a number of years since his release from federal custody.

EARL WHITAKER, Chief of Police, Wallace, North Carolina, advised December, 1973, that he had not seen PEACOCK in several years. He stated that PEACOCK is supposedly a victim of epileptic fits and has been treated for epilepsy. He further stated that the artist's conception of the unknown subject does not resemble PEACOCK.
