The following investigation was conducted by SA [redacted] at Lafayette, Louisiana:
On August 31, 1976, [redacted] secretary, Lake Charles Dredge and Towing Company, Lafayette, Louisiana, advised that due to the length of time since VERNUCE A. HOFFKE had last worked for them, she would not have his personnel record readily available but would check the archives of the company in an effort to locate a work record for VERNUCE HOFFKE.
On September 8, 1976, [redacted] Lake Charles Dredge and Towing Company, was recontacted and at this time advised she had found a work record for HOFFKE which reflected the following information:
VERNUCE A. HOFFKE, Social Security Number 517-38-7291, was employed by Lake Charles Dredge and Towing Company from December 6, 1968 to March 5, 1971, as a first oiler in the engine room on one of their dredging boats. A further review of the application failed to show any previous employments and listed HOFFKE's address as 120 Oakwood, Lafayette, Louisiana.
[redacted] also advised that in talking to some of the officials at Lake Charles Dredge and Towing Company, it was learned that [redacted] was HOFFKE's immediate supervisor on the boat and [redacted] who is retired, is currently residing in Tumball, Texas.
On September 10, 1976, [redacted] Louisiana Department of Corrections, Parole and Probation, was recontacted; however, [redacted] could provide no additional employment for HOFFKE after he had terminated his work with Lake Charles Dredge and Towing Company.
