Re Seattle airtel to Bureau dated 8/17/77.

As Seattle is well aware, Agents of the Los Angeles Division have interviewed DIRK WAYNE SUMMERS on several occasions. During the initial contact, he indicated that he had retained an ex-FBI Agent to assist him [redacted] of COFFELT, but refused to identify this individual. During a later contact on 5/6/77, he identified [redacted] a retired FBI Agent from Newport Beach, California. Subsequent efforts to identify [redacted] in Orange County and Los Angeles, California, met with negative results.

SUMMERS is a name-dropper, has a wild imagination, and is frequently loose with the truth. It is the opinion of the interviewing agents that the only official information SUMMERS has concerning this matter is an FBI identification record relating to COFFELT, which he may have obtained from [redacted] if he does, in fact, have one.
