TWO FOUR-MAN HELICOPTERS OF THE AIR NATIONAL GUARD, PORTLAND, OREGON, WITH TWO BUREAU AGENTS AS OBSERVERS, WERE UTILIZED TODAY AND FLEW [struck-through: FROM POINT A TO POINT B ON THE REVISED] [handwritten correction above: YES] MAP OF THE DROP AREA SUPPLIED BY NORTHWEST AIRLINES. THEY ALSO COVERED THE ENTIRE AREA SOUTH, FROM LINE A-B TO THE SOUTHERN BOUNDARY OF THE POSSIBLE DROP AREA WITH NEGATIVE RESULTS.
IT APPEARS THAT THE TERRITORY IN THE GENERAL AREA OF LINE A-B IS VIRGIN TIMBER AND COULD BE SEARCHED ON FOOT.
THE SAME HELICOPTERS WHICH WILL NOT BE AVAILABLE UNTIL MONDAY WILL ON THAT DAY, WEATHER PERMITTING, SEARCH THE AREA NORTH OF LINE A-B.
BUREAU PERSONNEL TODAY ARE DRIVING THE AREA BY BUREAU CAR TO DETERMINE ROADS AVAILABLE WHICH WILL FACILITATE THE FUTURE SEARCH ON FOOT.
