On 4/3/72 [REDACTED] from Fort Lewis called and advised that he had just received a call from 6th Army Headquarters in San Francisco. They were told to hold their movement of troops back to Merwin in abeyance until clearance had been obtained from the Continental Army in Fort Monroe, Virginia. They anticipate this some time early tomorrow. He asked that we make our contacts in Washington to insure the permission be granted.
