AIRTEL AIR MAIL

TO: SAC, ALEXANDRIA (164-72)

FROM: SAC, SEATTLE (164-81) (P)

SUBJECT: NORJAK OO: SEATTLE

---

An extensive search involving numerous FBI and military personnel was conducted of the area computed to be the most probable area that UNSUB parachuted into on 11/24/71. The results of this search were negative.

On the night of NORJAK, a jet airliner flew over the home of [REDACTED] Washington at an b6 altitude of 5,000 feet. [REDACTED] home is considerably east b7C of the search area and if the jet airliner that flew over his home was the hijacked Boeing 727 this would indicate an error was made in the calculation of the search area.

The search area was calculated by [REDACTED] b6 Northwest Orient Airlines employee and by [REDACTED] b7C [REDACTED] McChord Air Force Base, Tacoma, Washington.

Attempts are being made to contact [REDACTED] b6 by the Seattle Division to recalculate the search area with b7C him.

On 1/12/73 [REDACTED] McChord Airforce Base, advised [REDACTED] has been transferred b6 to the Far East. [REDACTED] further advised that he is in b7C possession of the Radar Data and calculations used by [REDACTED] [REDACTED] to estimate UNSUB's drop area. [REDACTED] advised he could not make this information available to the FBI personnel without the prior approval of the National Military Command Center.
