Federal Bureau of Investigation Louisville, Kentucky

Dear Sir:

Sunday's Lexington Herald-Leader carried a lengthy article about the skyjacking of a Northwest Orient plane going from Portland to Seattle nearly five years ago. The skyjacker gave the name Dan Cooper. It is about that crime that I am writing. 164-[illegible]-5

[redacted] the United Methodist Church in Liberty, Kentucky, (Casey County) for seven years. Very soon after the sky- jacking a man named [redacted] came to the community and started buying farms, businesses, etc. Many wondered where he got his money. I believe that he had a doctorate degree in education - taught in a university in the state of Oregon and also taught at the Sommerset Community for a while after coming to Liberty. The thought has often come to my mind that there may just be a connection between the crime and his sudden appearance in Liberty with a lot of money. This tip may prove to be of no help but I did want to tell you.

I have been gone from Liberty since June '75 and am told that [redacted] no longer lives there. He does have relatives there. Larry Bowmer, Chief of Police can provide you with additional information should you wish to pursue this.
